Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Tarangire to discover the giant termite mounds and baobab trees of Tarangire. This park is famous for its large elephant population, scenery and diversity of bird-life, Tarangire’s wildlife includes elephant, lion, giraffe, warthog, ostrich, impala and baboon. Dinner and overnight at Kigongoni Campsite, located just outside the national park.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Leave the campsite at 6:30am for an all day game drive in Tarangire searching for the Greater and lesser kudus. Eat a packed lunch in the park. Return to the campsite at 6:30pm for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park:
Early morning game drive in Tarangire from 6:30am until 9:30am. Return to the campsite for a hot breakfast. Pack up the vehicles and leave for Lake Manyara National Park. Drop off supplies at the campsite before going on a game drive. Game drive in Manyara eating a picnic lunch in the park. Wildlife commonly seen in Lake Manyara includes elephant, baboon, giraffe, hippo, flamingo, and various water birds, Dinner and overnight at Jambo Campsite.
Day 4: Lake Manyara to Lake Eyasi
Spend the morning in Lake Manyara. Return to the campsite for brunch. At 11am, leave for Lake Eyasi a soda lake south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. While in Lake Eyasi, visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe are one of the last two hunter-gatherer tribes left in Tanzania, and there are approximately 200 families living in the Eyasi area. After lunch in Eyasi, visit a traditional blacksmith and watch him turn metal into jewelry. Later visit a traditional boma of the Datoga tribe. Dinner and overnight at Eyasi village Camp.
Day 5: Lake Eyasi
At 6am, go on a hunt for bush meat with the Hadzabe men. Spend four hours hiking through the bush tracking animals. Return to the campsite for lunch. After lunch, return to the Hadzabe tribe and go with the women to find roots in the forest. Dinner and overnight at Eyasi village Camp.
Day 6: Eyasi to Lake Natron
Leave Lake Eyasi at 8am for Lake Natron. Lake Natron is home to Oldonyo Lengai, an active volcano that is know as the “Mountain of God” to the Maasai tribe. Reach Lake Natron in the afternoon and spend a relaxing evening at Ngaresero Campsite. The campsite is next to a river, and makes an excellent starting point for hikes across the flats of Lake Natron.
Day 7: Lake Natron
Spend all of day exploring the river and waterfalls near the campsite of Lake Natron. Trek across the mineral lake observing the many birds that feed on the lake. Eat a hot lunch at the campsite and chat with the local Maasai. If you are interested, you can climb Oldonyo Lengai, a volcanic mountain in Lake Natron. Begin hiking at midnight, reaching the peak at dawn. View the molten lava in the volcano and descend the mountain to return to camp for a hot breakfast. Overnight at Ngaresero Campsite.
Day 8: Lake Natron to Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, load the vehicles and drive to Serengeti National Park. As you drive to Lobo Campsite, view wildlife in the northern reaches of Serengeti National Park, Species commonly seen in the Serengeti include wildebeest, cheetah, zebra, lion, giraffe, impala, topi, and leopard. The Serengeti is also home to more than 540 species of birds.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park
Early morning game drive from 6:30am until 11am. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch. Game drive again in the afternoon from 3pm until 6:30pm. Return to the campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Serengeti National Park
Go on another early morning game drive in the Serengeti from 6:30am until 11am. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon rest. Go on another game drive from 3pm until 6:30pm, returning to Ikoma Bush Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Leave the Camp for a final game drive in the Serengeti. Game drive in the Serengeti until 2pm, at which point you will leave Serengeti National Park and enter Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Game drive along the way to Ngorongoro Crater, arriving at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite in time for the spectacular Crater sunset.
The Crater’s resident wildlife includes lion, zebra, cheetah, wildebeest, hippo, elephant, and flamingo.
Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
At 7am, leave the campsite for a six-hour game drive in the crater. The largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro has an area of 260 kilometers and a depth of 610 meters. The crater provides a protected habitat for thousands of mammals and birds. At 2pm, leave the Crater to return to Arusha. Overnight at Jacaranda Hotel.
